Chapter 1 : Ye Olde Book

"Snuffles! Where are you Snuffles? It's late in the
afternoon and we're expecting visitors!" The call came from
a young man draped about in an old moth eaten robe. He
glanced around his small dusty cottage trying to solve the
mystery of the puzzle that had alluded him all
morning. "Ahh! At last i have found what i have been
looking for!" came a remark as the figure moved to his
study desk and saw a small pouch sitting under a few minor
spell scrolls. "This is what we need to make everything
perfect for our friends, Snuffles. Snuffles? Where are you
Snuffles? Confounded bunny, never around when i need
something in all this mess are you..." his voice trailed
off as he mixed the contents of the pouch into some cups
sitting upon his kitchen table. "Tea for our visitors it
shall be!"

It was a perfect day to be a traveller on the road into
the village. It was fall, yet still reasonably warm enough
to keep the spirits high on a long journey. it was
approaching early evening when the man walked around the
bend in the road. He was right on making 20 years of age,
yet was dressed in garb of one who has been fighting in the
bordor skirmishes for ages. he wore bright blue mail that
clearly showed his allegience to the Brothers Of The Free
Arm, the current ruling power in the eastern continent.
with a round face and deep grey eyes, he had a crop of
thick brown hair on his head that almost seemed like it
wanted to curl, yet had a tendency to remain straight.
strapped across his back was a polearm with a blade that
looked like a breeding between axe head and sword blade.
his build was a little husky, yet hidden beneath were a
prowess of muscle. The man walked down the road and stopped
to look down at a stone, on which top sat a little white
bunny with black spot on it's back.
"Greetings unto thee great avatar of Davis, Snuffles!"
exclaimed the man as he bowed low before the rabbit.
"And likewise unto you great Canaden." the rabbit
replied as it stood up on two legs and likewise did a
bow. "Davis has been waiting for you and sent me to welcome
you in, might i add he disturbed quit a wonderful nap that
i was just starting to enjoy when he gave the command," the
rabbit hopped down from the rock and took a few steps down
the road and beckoned for Canaden to follow.
"it's good to be back home, Snuffles. The bordor
skirmishes are getting worse and worse." said Canaden.
"Aye, we've been catching a bit of news of the
frontlines back here as merchants and whatnot come through
on business." replied Snuffles as she hopped along the path.

The two travelled on down the road and into the small
village of Amant. not much had change for this village in
the past 200 years since it's establishment. the outside
world has waged wars and changed it's surface, but this
small area has always remained the same. The village was
called home by about 400 people. All of whom knew each
other and their goings ons. The two walked through the
village, many exchanges of greetings and news were made as
Canaden walked through the village. It was approaching dark
when the two made their way to the other side of the town
and down the path to a small cottage out the outskirts of
town.
"Has anything changed with Davis?" asked Canaden as they
approached the cottage.
"Last time you were here, was the house covered in
molded and dusty books, with no organization at all and
Davis wielding his 'great robe of the mages' that he bought
from a merchant, who just claims it was worn by the great
Gagab?" asked the little bunny with just a slight hint of
sarcasm to her voice.
"Ahh...i see nothing has changed has it" replied
Canaden. The two then approached the house and right as
Canaden raised his hand to knock the door flung open and
there stood Davis, a tall thin man with a rather cubicle
head with his hair done up in spikes using some sort of gel
contrived by the powers knows what. his old robe frazzled
with many a hole and the color all but fled leaving it a
rather drab brown.
"Snuffles! Where in the six planes have you been! I've
been looking all over this cottage for you, but Nooo...you
decided to go run and play didn't you? I bet you were in
town talking to that sage who claims he knows the answers
to all of lifes problems, haven't you? what's his name
again..flip...bob..uh..phil, that's it!" cried the young
man as he scolded the bunny.
"Davis, you told me this morning to go wait for Canaden
at the entrance of the village. I swear, everytime you get
into one of those books of magic you don't remember
anything else. And if you insit with this loud speak, i'll
just stop letting you practice your transform spell on me
and you know what that means.." said Snuffles.
Davis blushed and looked down at the ground, "i know, i
know, no more Snuffles the elven love slave for me."
Canaden coughed and stood back a second looking at the
two with a new found look. "Oh my goodness! I completely
forgot you were here! Come in! Come in, Canaden. It's been
such a long time since we've talked and we have much
catching up to do."
