RE: sponse

So I talked with Juli about the "girls dressing up and
this is her opinion".....so that there's a counter to my
shit...........
Me: what's your thought on it? since you've seen mine
Juli: I know the only reason you feel that way is your
mothers influence
Me:
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooo talking so much shit
Juli: haha
Me: or it could be the society i grew up in? it's
dfeinetly a combo of the two
Juli: Austria? maybe. lots of the people I met were
small town poor folks who didn't have enough money for
designer clothes (my distant relatives)
Me: i guess it was just the city
Juli: I don't look down on girls for dressing up I just
don't like when anyone looks down on me
Me: it's just when i see a girl that dresses up next to
your average girl, i look at the former with an aire
of "she takes more time"
Juli: she takes more time to impress you and you respect
that, right? basically yes b/c you deserve that sorta eye
candy. should I be getting jeolous? ;-)
Me: i mean it's derogatory and objectifying individuals
but i mean don't you think that the person who spends more
time on themselves........wiat hmmm i seem to be in a
corner all the time it's weird like.....i can't explain my
preference
Juli: its your background- you already did
Me: yeha i guess, but i do'nt have a good rational reason
cos if i really go in depth i find almost the opposite
like i make fun of those that are too vain
Juli: there is nothing wrong if a girl finds enjoyment
with making herself pretty. People find enjoyment in many
different ways and it doesn't hurt anyone but...... I just
don't see how someone who prefers to spend their free time
on makeup or spend their free time say watching TV. Why
one should be respected more than the other, you know?
Me: because it takes more drive to do the former why do we
respect higher ranks in our society? cos it requires more
effort why would you respect a marathon runner more than
the person that watches it? same reason more effort
Juli: wait wait wait
Me: a person who goes out, buys it, puts it on, is just
putting out more effort in life than the one sitting around
Juli: those examples are self achievements not
recreational activities
Me: well what they are are really not relevant i think
it's the effort ;-) for example take the grasshopper and
the ant
Juli: ok ok stop
Me: no matter what you're doing.......its' the fact that
you're doing something
Juli: I accept that BUT why assume that that girl is
watching TV instead of putting on makeup? SHe could be
writing the next great AMerican novel
Me: hmmm ok
Juli: wait theres more the thing is- you can't make a
general statement about the amount of effort someone does
by looks alone
Me: what if that girl who were writing the american novel,
wnet out and got makeup and put it on when she introduced
it?
Juli: haha then I guess you got the ideal girl
Me: see we have to hodl something constant i mean it's too
general to say that doing the makeup detracts from the
novel writing
Juli: I never said it did
Me: just like the girl could get the makeup AND watch t.v.
Juli: yep
Me: it's really a question of are you getting the make up?
Juli: hahaha
Me: that additional effort :-D
Juli: i love this debate
Me: this soudns ridiculous me too that extra effort
note "extra"
Juli: well I'll forego the makeup for those extra 5 min of
sleep. even if I don't impress your family. call me a
disgrace ;-)
Me: =-O do i "win" ;-)
Juli: no way! I don't see putting on makeup as that much
effort
Me: no that's not the poitn it's not the amount of effort
Juli: I mean I don't think it should be a cause of that
much respect
Me: just the fact that you make it
Juli: its not worth it in my mind
Me: well now we're coming down to theopinions ;-)
Juli: to impress you? nah. not worth it
Me: but you've done it once well to placate my mom i
think :-D
Juli: haha. I mean I'll put it on for special occassions
Me: but still i take it as a great honor when you do put
on make up
Juli: b/c I enjoy dressing up once in awhile its like a
game
Me: although you look beautifuuuuuuuuullllllll without it
ever since you were a little girl :-D that's what girls
grow up with it as a game
Juli: yeah. its definatly a cultural thing which is why
you shouldn't be so judgemental
Me: oh definetly
Juli: b/c I didn't grow up with that I had no sisters and
my mom never wore a lot of makeup does that mean I deserve
less respect then someone who grew up in a different
environment?
Me: it's not that you get less
Juli: I just don't get the comfort from putting on makeup
that some girls too
Me: it's that they get more
Juli: um......
Me: you're not losing any
Juli: I get less than them then comparatively
Me: but you yourself don't have less
Juli: I think thats silly
Me: well, let me take the other side of the argument for a
sec
Juli: well whatever. everyone is entitled to their opinion
ok
Me: i make fun of people that take a long time to get
ready and i think that a lot of girls (a whole lot) do it
out of insecurity sorta like why i think most guys take
off their shirt girls put on makeup it sometimes
screams "look at me.......just don't look too closely"
ooo i like that last line
Juli: well all in all. I just think that whether or not a
girl wears makeup is based on environment and therefore we
shouldn't make too many judgements on the girl one way or
another
Me: orrrrr i'm sure there are a lot of girls that come
from an environment where it's not thrown at them
then you could take the "effort" approach
Juli: or the "insecure" approach
Me: or you could take it no matter what really yess but
you can't refute the effort one yo ucan refute
the "insecure"
Juli: true. but effort due to insecurity isn't much to
admire you want me to back down so badly
Me: :-D
Once again, my better half has voiced her opinion
Love ya girl ;-)
