Death of an Unguarded Heart

What sword is not honed to more razored edge
when forged by the fire of malice?
What sling not more cunningly sure in it's arc
than unleashed in pursuit of revenge?
What poison more savory, yet lethal and swift
than the bouillon of lies and deceit?
What noose a more skilled executioner
than the unyielding stranglehold of indifference?
What arrow more lethal to unguarded hearts
than those drawn, with deliberacy and stealth,
...from the quiver of a trusted friend?
For when the bloody kill is made ~
what purloined treasure surpasses lost faith?
Perhaps only one...
the price of the soul whored...
to lay waste to an unguarded heart.
