The Life and Times

Christmas.

Damn, it's Christmas Day already. That means there's
only one more week until the end of 2002, which surprisingly
turned out to be a pretty damn good year. Today I went to my
grandparents house again, at which we saw the same crew as
yesterday; Donna was there and full-heartedly explained in
her 4-year old's logic how much she missed me and how much
she loved Santa Claus--- nice kid right there. I'm not
normally a big fan of little kids, and especially not
INFANTS--- (don't let me get into that) probably because I
never really babysat, why engage in virtual slave labor? You
gotta change their diapers, cook their meals, read them
bedtime stories, ask them to go to sleep... eh, the list goes
on, but the point is that 10 bucks an hour will not suffice
for all of that crap to take care of. Hah. Anyhow, this kid
Donna is a riot, but a nice one. I'd probably babysit her if
all else failed, and that's pretty damn good, coming from me.
Got some tight gifts, even though I didn't really ask
for much this year. Snagged the new System of a Down cd, and
it's hot, probably better than the last one (the one I've
listened to countless times in Will's car), and that's saying
a lot, among other things. System of a Down is probably one
of the only descent modern bands in mainstream pop culture
right now; don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those music
snobs who's like "I'm too good to listen to the radio," but
the fact is that most stuff just straight out sucks. I'd
say being locked in a padded room and listening to Linkin
Park, Blink 182, Sum 41, Korn, and/or Jimmy Eat World (more
on the list that would offend me too much to mention) is
pretty much equivalent to being condemned to eternel hell.
Grunge died along with Kurt Cobain and its ghost became
banished from society at the breakup of the Smashing
Pumpkins, so what the hell are we left with? At this point
in time the only respectable music that's still prevalent
within the industry would be System of a Down, the Strokes,
the White Stripes, the Impossibles, the Hives, Queens of the
Stone Age, and maybe the Foo Fighters, too. Everything else
is over-produced, inoriginal bullshit that doesn't deserve to
be on the radio. This concludes my bitch-session.
I think I might take a shower or something before I find
another method of spending my time locked in the house;
there's really nowhere to go tonight since everywhere is
closed, even our beloved grocery store Harris Teeter (many a
drunken night was spent aimlessly wandering their aisles,
probably a miracle of God that nobody called the cops on all
of us). Anyhow, I just got on the phone with Will for only
the second time today, and compapred to our normal habits,
we're definitely lacking our quality on the phone time.
Thank God my parent's long distance service on the house
number is working again, otherwise my cell phone bill would
be going up the roof, although it probably is, anyhow. Aww I
love Will so much, he is the most adorable guy I have ever
known in my life, adorable in every way possible... It's
going to be a very special time for the both of us when we
get to see eachother again in four days... I can't wait!
