Issac's Fire

Escape from Alcatraz

December 21,2002
2:20 A.M.

I have returned from my job hopefully with the
assurance that my managers understood my case concerning my
schedule availability. I used the "open door" policy with
the new assistant manager, Terry, and plead my case to him.
He seem to received it well, but not to be taken with rest,
especially in the retail business. Before I even had the
chance to do so, the associates of the retail store came to
me. One by one they asked if I was fired. Obviously the
rumour was that "Issac was fired for no call no show". Few
had genuine concern for me and the majority just wanted to
pry into my business. Speaking of rumors, a new associate
informed me that another new associate, Doug, was saying
that I was weird and one who couldn't understand/slow. Do I
believe it?, in part I do. But, Scripture states that if I
have a problem with a person or vice versa....than a
private conferance is to be encouraged between the two. I
plan to do so to see if it is a fact or just plain gossip.
What really bothered me the most was what the new associate,
(don't know her name), was invited by Doug to one of his
home Church services and yet, he never followed up with
her. On top of that, she heard from him what he said about
me. These are the two reasons why she don't want to go to
his home Church. I wonder how many souls would have
surrendered their lives to the Master (Jesus) if only the
Christian portrayed Christ in his/her life with his/her
words? However, if the rumor is true, than I am to confront
him that what he did might have cost her eternity. God
forbid. Come to think of it, I was reading an autobiography
by Mohatma Ghandi entitled, "My experiments with Truth".
What a challenge that man was and a perpetual conviction to
the Church. From a young age, Ghandi developed a hatred for
Christianity. Not in the form of violence, but in the fact
that the Europeans missionaries didn't lived the Gospel.
Thus, he never came to surrender his life to Christ because
the Christian Church was playing mere religion. I was
convicted and challenged to not be a partaker of such
hypocrisy in today's Church. Ghandi, among others, would
have been another Apostle Paul. My home Church Pastor (not
the "old man") encouraged Doug to fellowship with me, yet a
person must prove onself if he is to win my friendship.
Maybe the Pastor see a possibility in him? I don't know. As
for the customers in the retail store, well....let's just
say that they were a handful, (laughing). I can really say
that my patience grew in dealing with people over the years
in the retail business. Scripture states that patience is
the fruit of the Spirit. Fruit takes time to grow. It is
one of the charateristic of a born-again child of God. God
knows how much I needed to grow in that. I still do.
Looking back to who I was and who I am now, I definatelky
grew in that area. I was glad I came out from that hectic
night. Im surprised we came out early. Most of the time we
end up getting out at 4:00 A.M. Well....I do,but the
associates in my department end up leaving earlier than
they need to. I really don't want to dwell in that because
it annoys me.
