I Never Promised You a Rose Garden

Is a suggestion the same as a promise?
if so,I'd suggest you stay.
And if I said Hey, maybe
Would it make you go away?

If I said I want you close to me
would you laugh in my face?
Or would you keep it locked away
from all the human race.

It's been a month since I've seen your smile
and 6 since I've touched your skin.
And only 3 hours since I heard your voice
inside my head thoughts spin.

I long to hear you speak my name
or watch you in the dark.
I wish to kiss your eyes good night
and walk around that park.

And though I know in due time
And while my heart may harden,
I should not promise you anything,
I will SUGGEST a rose garden.
