B-boys and girls, listen up!

The new Nas comes out tomorrow, and unless you have a super
cool friend like Mikey P to burn you a copy, you should go
out and buy it 'cause I gots that feeling that it's gonna
be reeeeally good. I hear the new Common is damn good too,
so add that to your Christmas list, kids!

Alright, let's talk about music a little. Something came
to my mind yesterday and I've been thinking a lot about it,
so here goes. A few months ago I went to a Public Enemy
show in Northampton. There Chuck D told us a story about a
song on their new album. The song is called "Free Mumia,"
and as you might imagine, the song is about Mumia, and the
chorus goes "Free Mumia." Duh. Alright, so they did the
video for MTV, and right before it was about to air, MTV
told them they'd only air it if took out the word "free."
Yeah, fucking ridiculous. So PE pulled out and the video
never got on (as far as I know anyway). But here's my
question, would it have been better for them to just
cooperate and at least get "Mumia" out there? Like, is it
more important for your entire message to be heard by a
few, or part of your message to be heard by many?

It's a really frustrating thing to think about. I mean, my
natural inclination as a crunchy leftist is favor the
quality of the message over the size of its audience (and
to say fuck MTV anyway)...but then, I don't know. Millions
and millions of people could have been learning at least
something about Mumia. It's a double edged sword, and it's
all because the powers that be REFUSE to let protest return
to music. I guess I would too if I were trying to maintain
order while participating in so so so many objectionable
activities.

I have no answer. But there are no anwers anyway, remember
silly? I also wanted to say how glad I am to be back in
touch with Ms. Katelyn Dix, one of my all-time favoritest
people in the world. Creamy brown, baby ;)

THE END! Go home. Smoke some dope. Terrorize small
animals. Do whatever it is that you do. And I'll yap at
yas later.

Always,
Shararararara
