SNOW 11/27/02

Wowee. Our first snowfall. It's gorgeous. I said a
little prayer before I stepped out my front door this
morning and made the first snow tracks on my property.
What a delightfully simple feeling.
I ran into someone I knew from high school on the train
last night. She was a year ahead of me, but we had hung
out on a few occasions with mutual friends. We rode home
together and talked the whole way. It was nice. I told
her all about my adventures in Boston, getting pierced and
tattooed, and talked about my spritual growth. She told me
of her adventures in the legal field and inquired much
about my spiritual growth. She seemed very interested and
open to everything I told her. I showed my tarot cards- I
have the Cosmic Tribe deck, a beautiful tarot with artful
and symbolic photographs.
When I got home, my mother picked up Chinese food and she,
my sister, and I sat down to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer
(one of my guilty pleasures). After Buffy ended I tucked
my sister into bed and went down to my room...what a mess.
I have to clean it tonight, which will get done because I
can stay up late as I don't have to work tomorrow. But
last night I didn't have the right kind of energy in me to
even begin cleaning, so I set to create.
I grabbed all of my most useful books on the craft, two of
my photo albums, random nicknacks such as feathers,
pentacles, coins, and set to work on my Book of Shadows. I
began it about two years ago, but then I was still in
research mode and didn't have much anything I had put to
use. Now, with a pretty large chunk of experience under my
hood, I feel I can actually create something powerful and
fun. I picked out various pictures of myself and friends
that I thought would be good to represent certain sections
of the book. I also took photographs of some of my most
favorite and sacred spaces (Castle Rock- it's a ginormous
rock that juts out over the ocean-oh memory flood, must
continue, then tell stories; and the commons in Salem) and
wil use those as well. So last night wa sthe material
gathering, tonight will be the organizing and beginning to
put it all together. The book itself is a wire bound
journal with blank white pages. The cover is made of a
dark cork material, so it has a nice antique look and soft,
earthy feel. I poured burgundy wax on the cover last night
and affixed a small silver pentacle to it, and anointed it
with frankincense oil. What fun the creation process is.
Castle Rock. I first discovered CR in college with
my friend Jay. How we had met and become friends is
interesting. He was originally friends with my college
roommate (who was big campus drug dealer and eventually got
kicked out), and he would come over to my room often with
my roommate and a bunch of other people. We got to talking
one day and found out that he lived only two towns over
from me, and more we had mutual friends that we hung out
with at the same time...we were both like: "Ooooh. So
YOU'RE the Jay/Kevin they were talking about..." It was
kooky. From then on we hung out more and more, and he
eventually decided he preferred my company over my
roommate's, which was fine with me as I had developed a big
ass crush on him. We did everything. He was a very open
straight man, he knew I liked him. That's it. I'm going
to track him down. Arrrgh. I gotta get going...I'll write
more at lunch...so much I have to write
