An experimental lyric

A really bad song...but I think it's a good poem...you
decide.

The Mad Scientist

"The Light"

oh my friend, how did it come to this
I'll never know
seems we went travelled the way the dark wind blows

this wasn't the promised land on the other side
seems we have been cut off
from the things that keep us alive

I'm not sure how we'll make it
I'm not sure we'll survive
all I know is...

we got to stay alive
we can't give in to despair
those tendrils I choose not to share

we have to learn to walk away
from the pain that holds us in sway
prove to ourselves that the light is there

I remember the picture when we started this
a walk to nirvana and bliss
following our hearts and our dreams
nothing was what it seemed

never expected the pain inside
the light we sought we now try to hide
I'm tired of staying in this shade of grey
let me enjoy the light of the day...

we got to stay alive
we can't give into despair
those tendrils I choose not to share

we have to learn to walk away
from the pain that holds us in sway
prove to ourselves that the light is there

I'm not sure we'll make it
the shadows hold us tight
I'm not sure we'll survive
you have to fight for the right
I'm not sure we'll make it
it will take all our might
I'm not sure we'll survive
when we step into the light

all I know is...

we got to stay alive
we can't give into despair
we can't just give up
those tendrils I refuse to share

we have to learn to walk away
get away from the shade
from the pain that holds us in sway
to step into the light...
