Show me your Glory
There is a Third Day song called "Show me your Glory" and
it's the story of Moses when he was on the mountain with
God before he had received the ten commandments. Moses was
so upset about everything that was going on with his people
and he finally just said to God "Show me your Glory". God
knew that His full Glory would be too much for human eyes
to see and still live, but God said that the tail end of
his presence would pass by. Moses was in awe of God, and
he came down from the mountain a changed man. Did Moses
live a completely perfect life after that? Not at all, but
he did have motivation and encouragement to keep on going.
the Chorus of the song is Moses speaking to God and it
goes "show me your glory, send down your presence, I want
to see your face. Show me your glory, majesty shines
around you, I can't go on without you ohhh"
It seems like a bold request doesn't it? To ask God, the
creator of the universe, the Holy of Holies to demand him
to show himself. But the thing about it is that it pleases
God! The scriptures say that when we seek God, he's
pleased. In the Psalms God says to the psalmist "seek my
face". Can you imagine truly being in the presence of God
in such a tangible way that you could actually reach out
and touch him? I think about it sometimes, and it's not
something that my mortal mind can even fathom.
I'm a singer. Did I ever say that before? There is a song
that I am singing for church on Sunday and it's a song by a
group called mercyme. The name of the song is "I can only
imagine"
the words are as follows:
i can only imagine, what it will be like
when I walk, by your side
I can only imagine, what my eyes will see
When your face, is before me
I can only imagine, I can only imagine
Chorus:
Surrounded by your glory
what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus
or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence
to my knees will I fall
Will I sing Hallelujah
will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine, I can only imagine
Do you question the existence of God? Look up in the bible
Jeremiah 29:11 "If you seek me you shall find me. if you
seek me with all of your heart, I will be found by you".
Do what Moses did and ask God to show you His glory. It’s
a promise that you will find it. Whoever you are reading
this today, I’m saying a prayer for you today. Whether you
know Jesus or whether you are a skeptic, I pray for a
deepened sense of His glory to be revealed to the deepest
part of you. May you be able to listen to what God is
saying to you. May you hear the words that are being
spoken to your heart, and my you truly experience peace
today.
God bless
