Back on that alcohol thing

Proverbs 31:4-7 (NRSV)

"It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to
drink wine, or for rulers to desire strong drink; or else
they will drink and forget what has been decreed, and will
pervert the rights of all the afflicted. Give strong drink
to one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter
distress; let them drink and forget their poverty and
remember their misery no more."

That's one of those passages that's sort of scary and
exciting. Maybe it's just because I don't have a problem
with drinking (not to be confused with a drinking problem,
which I also don't have) but I keep finding these verses
that seem to say that consuming alcohol is acceptable. I
think Angela made a good point when she was talking about
underage drinking. I still don't think that there is
anything intrinsically wrong with drinking alcohol. So
there. And now back to quiet time.
