What I Want Cannot Be Sold to Me!

Well, finally have the chance to scribble down the
minor details to my life, and look, there is nothing to
talk about. Life has once again slowed down, but it
hasn't hit boredom yet b/c I'm keeping myself busy with
schoolwork and reporting. But the past week was so much
fun and introduced me to two great male beings, on whom I
have developed crushes. First, there's the Intellectual,
who I started to tell you about, but I have more to tell!
And then there's the Vice President of the black student
group here at school, who is cunningly handsome (and he
keeps smiling at me!). Both of these gentlemen, no doubt,
have possible girlfriends. Well, the VP does for sure,
but the Intellectual has one of those exgirlfriends with
whom he has remained best friends, which probably means
they'll be likely to get married. SO, I won't even get my
hopes up about him, I don't like to set myself up for
heartbreak and disappointment. But then again, the VP,
though he has a girl, that can be changed. Especially if
he keeps smiling at me the way he does! Gives me rushes
of girlish excitement!
Anyway, last week ended on a cool note, after hosting
and reading my poetry at the open mic event Thurs. the
Intellectual talked to me for a minute. He's so sweet!
Anyways, the next day, I caught the bus by running all the
way down the block and to my surprise (and gratitude)
there sat the Intellectual, seemingly laughing at my
triumphant flight as I caught my breathe. I was on my way
to get my hair-braided and he happened to live in the same
area. We talked all the way there, just about classes,
but the point is we talked! We got off at the same stop
and he showed me where he lived (for future reference, I
guess). And that was the highlight of my Friday.
Then came Saturday. I didn't do much, but I spent
the afternoon browsing at the mini-mall, then went home
with my necessary groceries. I sucessfully baked my first
pan of macaroni and cheese, just the way my step-mother
makes it, if not better. I fried some chicken with it and
even put some aside for my cousin. It was movie nite, but
by the time the bus came, I was just sitting down to eat,
so I waited for the next one (which wouldn't come for
another hour). I figured since I didn't have anything
else to do, I'd go to the skating party later on.
I didn't want to go b/c my cousin nor Silly were
going, and I knew the Entertainer would be there (sweatin'
me), but then again, so would the Intellectual...so,
needless to say, I went. And to my surprise, I had plenty
of fun. I met up with a friend of Silly's on the bus and
made friends with her friends along the way. When we got
there, I had to get pads for my feet cuz the skates had no
soles (just like the idiot owners!). Anyway, I hadn't
been skatin' since I was sixteen, so my legs didn't stop
aching until about midnite, by that time I'd been skating
for a few hours.
And then, the magical moment came, when the crowd
parted, and in rolled the Intellectual with his hand held
out. The words "Come on" seemed to float to my ears, as I
took his hand and went skating with the Intellectual. I
kept losing my balance and nearly falling, but he assured
me he wouldn't let me fall, or else we'd just fall
together. Ahhhhh!!! Why can't I have him?! WHY? Anyway,
then he grabbed hands with his ex-girl and had us on both
arms, talkin about now he's a pimp! It was funny, then he
linked our hands together, since we could help eachother
skate, she couldn't skate straight and I couldn't quite
get the curves. And the thing about his ex-girl is that I
don't hate her, I can't b/c she's so nice and sweet. So,
we get along pretty well.
The rest of the nite was much less exciting after
that magical moment with the Intellectual. Naturally, I
saw the Entertainer and he pretended he didn't see me
until the party came to an end. I wasn't hurt though, I
did the same. So, that was Saturday.
Sunday was goin' to be hectic. There I was with an
article deadline, on which I hadn't written a single word
or spoken to a single source, so I called the editor and
told him I couldn't do it. Besides, I had to fix the
brownies and cornbread (easy shit b/c I'm a lower-
classmen) for our dinner at the black student group
center. Well, the dinner wasn't whut I expected it to
be. Unlike the Midnite Breakfast, practically no one
showed up. And we (they) cooked all that good food! And
not as many people were there to eat it. There were left
overs, but needless to say, I surely got stuffed. And
left happy and full of gas. I was sure to wrap up some
dessert too.
So, that was my eventful weekend. I'm sure I'll get
a minute tomorrow to catch you all up on the minor details
of my life of the events this week. Until next time,
live, love, life!
