I really don't get this.
All over the country people are setting up supermarkets
and 'malls' as 'one-stop-shop' places. The idea being that
if the customer can get everything in one place, they will
be happier, because they have to do less traveling.
And it appears to be working (here at least). Supermarkets
flourish. Large shopping centres are really big crowd
pullers.
Yet you ask the average person on the street and they say
Microsoft should be ashamed for what they are doing. By
putting all their software in one pacakge they are driving
smaller software houses out of business.
Isn't it the same thing? Microsoft are just providing
a 'one-stop-shop' in software terms. So why is that so bad?
