A Most Improbable Dream

Mood: happy
Music: "Town Meeting Song" from The Nightmare Before
Christmas

Well, first off, September 11th went off without a hitch.
No terrorist bombings, no terrible copycat crime... I'm
pleased. Whatever power was at work there... thank you.

Second, I have a story to run by you all. Let me know what
you think.

Well, the story will revolve around a guy and a girl. The
guy, shy but mildly assertive, is too naive for his own
good. After going out with his formerly good friend for
four months, he breaks it off and has nowhere to turn. The
girl, out-going but insecure, is coming to the end of her
two-year relationship with the first "real" boyfriend
she's ever had. Meant for each other, right? Kind of.
There's a few complications... first off, the girl is best
friends with the guy's new ex-girlfriend. Even though she
knows it's over, the girl still has feelings for her ex.
And on top of all of this, the guy and girl have already
entered the "friend zone".

So... the spend a few months as friends. The guy is
awestruck by the girl's personal beauty. He doesn't
realize it, but he's fallen in love with the girl.

Cue her ex-boyfriend. This is where he'll come back,
making the guy realize that he IS, in fact, in love But
he's so concerned with making sure the girl is happy, he
refuses to agknowledge it for anyone. He's heartbroken,
but life goes on, becuse she does, too.

That fall, back at school, life has started all over. The
guy is friends with his ex, who's just has a really rough
break from her newer boyfriend. She's not taking it well.
To top it off, the girl in the story is becoming
increasingly unhappy and confused. A rift is created
between the guy and the girl, where sides seem to be drawn
with all of their friends. This is where it'll get really
complicated, but I guess it'll just take some strong
planning to write it properly.

The girl will fall for the guy's ex's newer ex. This will
create alot of confusion and pain between the characters,
spurring a lot of intra-character development. The guy
will come back into the girl's life, and things begin to
pick up.

Sweetness follows. The guy and the girl finally "fall in
love". They spend a few days in love, but it won't last
long.

The girl will decide she doesn't, after all, love the guy.
She was just feeling confused, and misjudged how much she
cared. They fall out... and don't speak for months.

Enter guy #2 and girl #2. Guy #2 makes casual friend for
girl #1. Girl #2 makes close friend for guy #1. Things
happen. Feelings are either quashed or explored. This goes
on for a couple of months, but then the cast will come
back together again.

Guy and girl have to come together for guy's ex (whom
after girl had flirted with guy's ex's ex, lost control of
herself and fell into a depression). They, of course, end
up getting back toegtehr for a short time.

Things fall apart again, and girl leaves guy #1 for guy
#2. Guy#1 is helped through his heartbreak by girl #2. Guy
and girl love each other, but not in "that way", so the
whole situation is beyond justification. It's a mess.

Flash-forward to one year later. Guy and girl have tried
to be friends a couple times, but it doesn't work. This is
where I'm stuck. How should this story end? Hmmm... I
wonder.

Sound like a good story? It makes more sense when you live
it... although it's still pretty hard to understand.

Cindie, where do you think this book is going? Should we
just skip to the epilogue now, or what?
