Friends forever and then no more

Okay, this is a thing about my two friends. This is my
view on the whole Chrissy VS. Josh issue. Everything
written in this entry is from my head...so don't get even
more pissed at each other because of it.

While sitting at Rank's IGA today, I had an epiphany.
Right there, at my register while weighing yellow summer
squash and counting out change, I realized that we're
done. We are the class of 2002. We are the class of
2003. We are any person who has been friends with an
underclassmen, and upperclassmen or someone who wasn't
there to make the "BIG STEP" with her friends. We are
friends, enemies, lovers, yet we are blind to others'
hopes and needs, wants and desires, dreams and fears.
While holding a cantaloup in one hand and punching in the
code with the other, I thought the most bizarre thought --
all of it has gone to shit. The people we've known our
entire lives are packing their belongings and leaving. The
bonds made in sandboxes and the secrets shared over intense
games of hopscotch and tic-tac-toe mean nothing because
it's over. We are no longer required to continue the
masquerade known as high school. The days of back-stabbing
and taking eachother's crushes are over...we have REAL
problems now, car insurance, tuition bills, those dumbasses
at work who wont' give me the hours I need to pay for the
first 2 problems. Anyways, it's now us against them and
slowly, they're winning cuz we cannot stay together, we are
not a team...we are becoming us against us against them and
that's just rediculous. If you know anything about me, you
know where this is headed. The relationships formed from
sand and water and sculpted into intricate castles, are
crumbling due to age, time and the elements. Our best
friends are eroding and slowly becoming aquaintences and
then strangers...or in this case enemies. I feel that, yes
each of you has a strong argument against the other, and
yes you have reason to be upset, but sometimes, you can't
fight over whose crayon is better and you just gotta call
truce. So, instead of bickering and deceit, why not call
up your best friend from second grade, and go play in the
sand ;-)
That's all I have to say
Love always and then some,
em
