The First Day... eeek!!!!
Ok, captain's log.. star date DOH!
I was sitting at work today and got to thinking how my
cousin had recently started one of these, and I thought it
sounded like a pretty good idea. My new job is a little
slow sometimes, so today I started writing poetry to pass
the time. The first one I wrote was this:
Random Acts of Kindness
It's the little things in life
that get me through the days
the thoughtfulness of strangers
in oh so many ways.
Close friends lend an ear
the answers not forthcoming
but the distraction from my thoughts
keeps me from running.
So I'd like to take a moment
to tell you what I'm feeling;
the generosity of many
has kept my head from reeling.
It would take me many years
to thank each act of kindness
from all of those who love me
and for helping me find this:
A feeling of self worth
knowing I am an individual
always carrying a smile
one that isn't fictional.
So I stand here before you
once again on my own
but behind these tired eyes
lives a woman that has grown.
Do not take me for granted
because there is only one;
to give up knowing me
can never be undone.
Not one of my better poems, but it says exactly how I feel.
I don't know why I feel the need to make it rhyme, some
poems I feel should and some I dont think it works for.
This next one I got the idea from an e.e. cummings poem I
read a long time ago. First, the title signifies the one
word I use to decribe myself. The poem itself, is what
makes up that word, what is part of me.
The ingredients needed:
grrrrr ok so Im missing some words... I thought and thought
all day, and thought I'd think of some by now and dammit I
cant!!! Oh well.
Ok that's enough for today.
Love to myself and others,
