I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to visit my
uncle and his family. We saw the fireworks from across the
Potomac River on the 4th, watched a couple of movies ("The
Iron Giant" is REALLY good...), and just had a good time
relaxing.

However, that has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on my
current mood. Right now I've got a bit of an upset stomach,
and I'm tired beyond all reckoning, even though it's only
7:30 PM. Bored out of my mind, but too lazy to get up off
my ass, I sit at this computer, literally staring at the
screen, thinking, "Entertain me." On my shoulders lay the
task of writing two essays for the MIT Freshman Essay
Evaluation, both of which are due by Monday, July 8 at 9:00
AM. I've already printed out and written marginal notes on
both readings that provide the subject matter for the test,
but my mind is a shambles and literally incapable of any
linear thought.

I was going to say something significant about Madonna
(since we listened to one of her CD's in the car ride) and
include some other reflections, but they have all been lost
in the no man's land. Even writing these few paragraphs is
like pulling teeth. *sigh*...I've got to get at least one
essay done so I can spend tomorrow on the other...

P.S.: The sky matches my mood today. It's overcast, but the
clouds are painted an uncharacteristic yellow, which just
makes everything look weird and depressed.
