A Marriage Proposal

Yup. A friend of mine who I really don't know that well
asked me if I'd consider marrying him. I told him that I
consider just about everything. Now, we're not in love,
nor will we ever be. So, there has to be another reason
for this marriage. He made it abundantly clear that he was
serious. He had to go at the time, but promised to tell me
the story later. That was 2 days ago. I'm very curious.
Now, there are a few reasons that I can think of why some
people would get married who aren't in love. Firstly is
for a green card. Secondly is for state residency. He is a
student and maybe he needs residency for in state tuition.
Thirdly, it could be to get out of a bad situation
involving another girl. Actually, that's not a good reason
at all. I was NOT the first girl on his list of people to
ask, but it's not that big a deal to me. But it's got me
thinking....could I marry someone I don't love? Could I do
it at this point in my life? What would change for me?
Does marriage follow you around for the rest of your life,
kinda like your driving record? I mean, would it be lying
to say that I had never been married if I had accepted my
friend's proposal and then got it anulled (sp?)? What
stigma could be attached to this? Can I do it? Should I do
it? I need more facts......
