Ton Swee-tee pie?

-OUI!
-Oh la la la la! maintenant, je comprends toutes!

if you can guess where that dialogue was from you will know
where i was yesterday and the day before.

if you don´t know...I was in Nice and boy oh boy was it
nice. granted we were only there for one full day but we
certainly did make the most of it. I for my part probably
had more happy visions of the place than bart since i felt
like i was straight out of FRENCH KISS!!!!(god i love that
movie!!) we even passed by George V but i didn´t find a
snotty concierge.

Bart decided to make the most of the beach at night and go
for a little soiree dip in the sea. I for my part sat on
the pebbles and watched. yes...pebbles. Nice is probably
the only beach you will not see a speck of sand. While you
don´t have to worry about finding sand in your clothes days
afterwards you do have to figure out how to walk over the
rocks without twisting your ankle. Anyways our day in Nice
was quite full. we woke up in the morning to a great
breakfast of baguettes, cafe au lait and pain au chocolat.
On a full stomache we hit the streets of Nice to find it
lined with produce vendors!!!. Every time i see a market
like this its like the gates of heaven have swung wide
open!!! why oh why doesn´t the US have something like
this?

Well our main agenda in Nice was to hit up the museums.
one was the Famous Matisse museum where we could see his
work among photographs and his home furnishings to see what
influenced his work. really a worthwhile exhibit. we even
wandered around the garden and cemetary near the museum to
discover his grave site hidden down among flowering bushes
and tiger lilies. Our next cultural stop was the Musee de
Chagall. Where we saw the large, colorful imaginings of
the artist ranging from mural sized works inspired by old
testament and smaller cartoons made for book
illustrations.

After a full day of culture we found ourselves back at the
rocky beach relaxing and waiting for our train to arrive at
ten.

here is a note for those of you planning on heading to
nice. For cheap good food find your way to the asian fast
food restaurants near the train station. you can´t beat
the thai curries and vietnamese noodles. Infact bart and i
ate there both days.

Now we are in Barcelona!
getting to barcelona is a story unto itself. We hopped on
the train in Nice to find a very nice car to sleep and
lounge out in if only there weren´t a robber on the train.
Bart woke up in the middle of the night to some guy opening
our car door and upon noticing bart quickly scuttled out.
While talking to some people in Port bou where we had to
change trains we found out he was making his way through
all of the cars and peoples belongings. Now in Port Bou--
the was a 24 hour strike in spain that delayed many many
peoples trains for a whole day. So now at 7am we had to
fight lines out the station to steal a seat on the train
going to barcelona. actually we had to steal a place to
stand for the three hours. yuck!

but no matter we are now in barcelona and have already seen
two of the famous Gaudi buildings. As for tomorrow our
agenda is packed with swimming at the beach and relaxing.
and maybe fitting in some tourist attractions if the
weather allows.

Folks i´m in the final stretch now. in one and half days
bart and i will be parting ways. So i´ll be fending for
myself in the wilds of france aiming my sights at a five
day resting hole named wachtebeke. I CAN´T WAIT!!!

love you all!!!

until next time!
