little bird, little bird

"Little Bird"
6.1.02

he used to keep her in a barbed wire cage,
her master, her oppressor.
the little bird was imprisoned for so long.
the months streatched out.
she lived in fear of him.

then one day, he left.
and like that, she was free.
the bird had forgotten what freedom felt like.

high up in the misty clouds,
like a bullet shredding through diminsions,
a bird flies free.
she waited so long to be free.

beneath the sun,
that little bird soared
and kissed the clouds.

she should've known better.
because in just a short matter of time,
he came back,
reached up and ensnarled her in his net.

she soon looked at the world through
the familiar bitter cage.
she's all his again.

he came back just for a visit,
but left another lasting impression.
he broke her wings
he broker her spirit.

freedom doesn't exist
freedom is an illusion.
that was such a bittersweet taste
of what life could have been,
but will never be.
