the inside

OK, this one might be kinda short cause its really just a
continuation from the last one I put up. Sometimes people
say things like "I'm black on the inside" or something
along those lines (I used "black" there, but you can put
any so called race in. I just say black cause that seems
to be the most common due to the overall popularity of
black culture). Other people, like mentioned in the last
journal entry, feel obligated to mock people that say
stuff like this. Heres what I have to say, what makes you
so sure their not? Think of it this way... you could go
into an on-line chat room or something like that, and
start talking to a bunch of people. Now, maybe through
your conversations with these people you come to the
conclusion that one person is an african-american (I
really dont like the term african-american, afterall,
we're all just people, and most "african-americans" have
probably never been to africa. Am I an
Irish/Canadian/Italian American?? No, so why that? I
dont, but I use it out of force of habit/political
correctnes from time to time, and figured I'd explain that
here), you assume based on your conversation that another
person is white, and so on and so forth. Maybe later on
all these people send you pictures of themselves. Guess
what?! You could easily turn out to be COMPLETELY wrong
about every stupid assumption that you made!!! Doesnt
this mean that maybe those people are "black (or whatever)
on the inside"? Personally, I'd say we're not anything on
the inside. Race DOESNT FUCKING MATTER (or exist,
actually... fucking social constructs), but I think that
when people say something like that, what they really mean
is that they relate to people of that genre, and that they
like the culture, etcetera, etcetera... so just let people
be themselves. Just get over it, already.
