bad dream

last night i dreamed about people i know taking cocaine.
by that i mean they took it in the dream, not people i know
who do coke in real life.

i can only vaguely remember the context now, but a guy i
went to school with - andrew - was doing it, and it really
disturbed me. come to think of it, we were at school in
the dream. i also remember being one the phone to sarah in
the dream, and telling her about andrew and the coke. she
said she had some, and was thinking about doing it (in real
life she wouldn't go near it). i was telling her not to,
but knowing that she would, when i woke up.

i think i've been reading too much brett easton-ellis. i
finished 'glamourama', and then read 'less than zero'. i
think i enjoyed 'less than zero' the most.

'glamourama' starts as an amusing satire and suddenly
becomes this horrendous psychological thriller in which our
narator, a male-model in new york, becomes unwittingly
involved with a terroist group who take over and control
his life.

'less than zero' recounts a month in the life of an
eighteen year old boy who returns from college to his home
in LA, where he and his friends all come from very wealthy
families and spend all of their time at parties and taking
lots of drugs. it paints a picture of a scene where people
can do what they want, when they want, and so their lives
are essentially empty - the parties and constant drug-
taking are totally unfulfilling. only extreme events - the
rape of a thirteen year old girl; the discovery of a dead
body - seem to have any impact on these teens.

anyway, theres a lot of coke in these books, so thats what
i put my dream down to!
