The Nine Faces of Dave

forecast for this week: busy as all hell

It's 11:00 on Sunday night, and I am dreading the prospects
of this next week. Lots of shit going on.

Monday I have a field trip after school to do some work with
the engineering department at a nearby university. Tuesday,
since I advanced in this big national math test, I get the
fun of taking a three-hour exam. Best of all, no one seems
willing to tell me what time it is.

Wednesday we go to a community college about an hour away to
participate in a math contest. My team this year is exactly
the same as last year, and we took 3rd. I think the higher
teams are gone this year, so who knows, we just might end up
winning some TI-92s. Can you say "bling bling?"

Thursday, thankfully, nothing big is happening, and we have
the day off from school on Friday. Now for the best part of
this whole deal: in addition to all this other stuff, there
is still rehearsal for the musical, and I still have my CS
class. It's a good thing Spring Break is coming up in just
four days. I could really use a vacation.

So I've been getting annoyed about a number of things as of
late. For starters, people keep telling me I should go to
the prom. Now the big problem there is, who the hell do I
go with? It happens in less than a month, and most of the
girls who are going have dates by this time. I'm basically
out of prospects.

In a similar but not at all identical vein, I've concluded
that I have essentially no chance at dating while still in
high school. The problem, besides my appearance, is that I
have next to nothing in common with most of the girls around
me. The last girl just might have said yes, but she's not
allowed to date. Ah well. What I need to do is meet some
nice girl who has seen "Transformers: The Movie." If I ever
do meet a girl who can appreciate that movie, then I'll know
that my luck has improved.

This is Dave, signing off.
