Fire From Ice

Well I got as far as starting to outline one of my
Internal Assessments, when the knock on the window came.
Nathan showed up, so we cruised around for a while. We
discussed a myriad of philosophical subjects, and as usual
I tried to unify them into a Qabalistic framework (and I
was mostly successful). We went to Bookmans in Mesa and
met this guy named Tom. He's working on an stage
adaptation of a novel by the same guy who wrote Lost
Highway (both names escape me at the moment). He's also
into shamanistic pathworking-type stuff, which is very
cool.

Anyway, I got R. A. Wilson's "Prometheus Rising" which I'm
sure I'll thoroughly enjoy. An interesting synchronicity
occured: in the Foreward to the book, Wilson talks
about "The Edge", which was the survival flic with Hopkins
and Baldwin that I just saw a few days ago and wrote about
in some previous entry. "Did you know you can get fire
from ice? Think about it. Fire from ice. Can you think
how...?" Wilson mentions the implicit alchemical idea
behind Hopkin's superb monologue, which is great. I didn't
even think about that when I saw it... which bothers me
for some reason. For those of you who are interested, the
explicit explanation of "fire from ice" is to use a clump
of ice as a converging lens for sunlight, and create a
spark.

Tomorrow promises to be a busy day. I need to try and
attend the Footloose rehearsal at school, seeing as how
I'm supposed to be stage-managing it. Then I need to
complete these Econ IA's, and probably head over to my
mom's later. Actually sounds kind of fun and productive.
I'm downloading mp3s to burn for my dad so he has some
road music on his trip to the Casino where Triad has a
week-long gig. I think I'm going to try and knock off a
bit of my schoolwork tonight. Yes... that's the thing to
do.
