Proverbs

Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be
put out in darkness...Do not say, "I will recompense evil";
wait for the Lord, and He will save you. Proverbs 20:20
Ashley's mom got this new device that you put in your
car. It plays forty different songs through your horn. One
day in the junior high carpool line, Ashley's mom decided
to play "parking lot DJ" and started playing old songs,
geeky songs--"Oh Susanna" and "Tea for Two." Really hip
stuff cannot be played through the car horn. Mom thought it
was a riot. Ashley thought it was the most humiliating
thing that could possibly happen. Ashley tried to figure
out what she could do that would be equally embarrassing
for her mother, but nothing came close to that musical
horn. Finally, Ashley decided to take the high road. She
sat down and told her mom how mortified she was, that it
was not funny, and that she wanted her to stop. Mom
apologized for not being so goofy. She really had thought
it was funny. Now she just entertains construction workers
as she drives by and the school parking lot is quiet.
Parents can be really embarrassing, intentionally or
without even knowing it. When it gets to you, work through
it. Talk it out. Tell them how you feel. Be honest and
don't try to get even. Your parents will appreciate your
maturity.
Matthew 5:9, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
