got it from a Charles L. Grant

Love is an emotion with which writers have a field day
becauseof its complexities, its simplicity, and the joy and
anguish it causes in any gieven person, on any given day,
at any given moment--more often than not, both at the same
time. there are, however, darker sides to this emotion,
which cause it to produce more personal frears, mroe
darknight terrors, than any other emotion.

there are, of course, a fair number of fears that rely on
things cominf from "out there", from the world of the
supernatural that we, quite naturally, don't believe in--
most of the time. there are, however, an equal number of
things that do well enough frightening us, or making us
cringe, without having to underscore them with things from
hte prenatural. people do, on occasion, fear eachother,
simple because they are afraid of giving so much of
themselves that they reduce themselves to less than their
self-image. sometimes these problems are worked out.
sometimes they aren't.

And much of Madness, and more of Sin,
And Horror the soul of the plot.

A civilized person believes himself or herself capable of
only civilized acts, deploring the rest but secretly
fearing that he or she might, just might, one day be driven
to some of them. it s, quite literally, a living nightmare
that most of us manage to confine to the dark of our
dreams. best intentions, however, do not always produce the
best results.
