Today, I again met with Frank to do some biblical studies. We started out at about 03:14 p.m.; we had our meeting on the second floor of the extension of the Belinsky Library. Here is a detailed synopsis of our class with quotations from the Holy Bible:
To be born spiritually means to get closer to the Almighty God. Our soul is eternal and immortal. Adam had three parts, after his transgression he died spiritually, i.e., communication with God was cut off. Adam was the ruler of the Earth.
Later on, we talked about Jesus Christ being tested by the Pharisees: “And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?” (Luke 5:21) Frank told me about a guy with a crippled hand, that Jesus healed him on the Sabbath day. Jesus healed him, and that was a miracle. Only God can forgive sins. “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washes us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:5-6) He washes us from our sins with His blood. It is only blood that can wash away sins. God hates sin. Nevertheless, we lie, cheat, etc. We sin every day.
We had a discussion about the three books on a Judgment Day: the Book of Thoughts, the Book of Words and the Book of Deeds. The following quotations from the Bible eloquently illustrate this:
“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” (Revelation 20:12)
“And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Revelation 21:27)
“And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.” (Exodus 32:33)
Frank and I had a meaningful and prolific discussion about the Ten Commandments this day. We talked a great deal about them. Here, I would like to remind those eternal wise words of old by quoting the Book of Exodus:
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.” (Exodus 20: 3-17)
For truth’s sake, though, I have to note, that all biblical quotes in this journal are made according to the King James Version of the Holy Bible. Therefore they contain British syntax and spelling, whereas the rest of this paper is written using primarily American syntax and spelling.
Jesus Christ during his earthly life and ministry explained the meaning of the Ten Commandments. Here are some of the explanations given by our Savior in the Holy Writ:
“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” (Matthew 5:21-22)
“But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28)
If someone commits a sin, he is guilty of ALL of the sins. “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10)
Having read this verse, Frank said to me, “God is clean, I’m not!” There are only two deaths: the death of the body and the death of the soul. There is no third death whatsoever. Christ made salvation easy: “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3) Also, the Lord says, “do not add to the Bible, neither should you take away from it”. This is especially topical for Mormons, for they added the Book of Mormon to the Bible.
“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18-19)
We know about the danger of the so-called false prophets. Satan can transform into an angel of Light. He loves religion; he does not care what you believe in, which church you go to. Jesus said, “I am the way”. Not ONE of the ways, but “the WAY”. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (The Acts 4:12)
God our Lord wants us to open our eyes:
“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” (The Acts 26:18)
In conclusion of our class, Frank Grabanski said, “Christ didn’t die for good people”. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Thus ended our religious class.
Also, Frank gave me the phone number of a certain Julia, who according to his words was a black girl from Zambia. “She can send you wherever you’d like to work as an ESL Teacher” – Frank said. Having returned home, I got through this Julia. When I had retold her all the things, which Frank had reported to me, she just burst out laughing and said Frank was a perfect jester. She is actually from Russia and lives in Yekaterinburg. So, she offered me to go to China to teach English. We had a long telephone conversation about the political system of China etc. She was trying to talk me into going there, but I said, “Okay, I’ll think”. I do not really want to go there to be honest. Or, at least it is not the thing I want in my life.
I again fell into deep depression; moreover, I wanted to buy a coin from a kiosk. It cost 90 Russian rubles. However, I only had 80.50 Russian rubles in my wallet. That was a shame! A shame of poverty. I really, really, really hate poverty and I wish to get out of it. Nevertheless, I cannot do anything about it. I just can’t. This is even more tragic. I wish I could travel to different countries on business, I wish I could meet people of various cultures, languages, races, etc. in their homeland. However, I am stuck in Russia and I will not have an exodus outside of it. All I have in my life is just dreams, hair-brained schemes and nothing more. Ah…
