Cyclone Debbie Sweeps New Zealand.

The remnants of Cyclone Debbie are pouring rain over the entire North Island and the top of the northeastern South Island. Heavy rain, flash floods and more flooding. We're pretty much okay in this town but I am pretty certain that the outlying farms are experiencing flooding. Pretty scary and concerning I think.

Been sewing my curtains for the bedsit windows yesterday. Broke my last sewing machine needle, so I had to stop. Got some more needles today so I can resume my work tomorrow.

Attended my first (of many-I'm sure-) CADS appointments today. Looks promising. Feels promising. I want to quit drinking. My heart will get better I'm hoping. Tomorrow my support person for Quit Smoking Aotearoa is visiting me for the first time and in another week's time, or so, my Community Cardio nurse will be visiting me for the first time too. I'm glad that I spent the weekend in hospital having check-ups and tests and obs. Makes me feel better. And I feel really bad about saying this yet again, that public healthcare is free for NZ citizens (& probably residential status NZ'ers as well.) We're so very blessed in this country. One day in hospital is over $2,000.00 for non-NZ'ers. We get great healthcare. I was in a different cardio ward with no-one really hooked up to mobile heart monitors which was nice and the patients were smiling more, and mobile and chatting brightly. I was in a little room by myself and I got lonely and cold. The flaming windows were open all night and I didn't realise it. The lovely nurse A*y gave me a nice warm blankie. I don't like making a fuss in hospital. The staff and caterers and caregivers are so lovely.

Feeling a bit shy this evening. I don't want to write much more.
