Drunk From Exhaustion

1am is feeling much more 1am-ish than it normally does for me. I actually feel the need to go to bed. No staying up all hours of the night tonight, but then again, I didn't last night either. This must be what growing up feels like. Going to bed at a "reasonable" hour. If you can call 2am (my projected bedtime at this point) reasonable.

Most of the day feel like failure. I still haven't touched the organization tasks I told myself I wanted to get done. I keep putting it off, because I know it will be an overwhelming task. And today was no different. I opted for hiking over organizing.

As I was driving over Hood Canal Bridge, I still wasn't sure what my plan was. It was between Port Angeles and Port Townsend. The deciding factor was the semi-truck in front of me. It turned of at the Port Townsend exit and I took that as my cue to keep on going straight. I hadn't been to Port Townsend in months, and I was sick of being stuck behind that damn truck.

The plan of attack was to find a hike. Do said hike. Then go to my favorite little store (Country Aire) . All the hikes I wanted to do were closed for one reason or another (construction, flood damage, whatever). So, I just ended up at Country Aire. Even there, after giving myself full license to buy myself a new scarf/wrap/sweater/etc. I couldn't. Every single think either had alpaca, cashmere, or wool in it. So not vegan. And the annoying thing about that is that there was no good reason for those articles of clothing to not be acrylic or polyester. There was nothing that set those articles apart from cheaper versions in other place. Like Target.

I headed to Fort Worden to fulfil my need for outdoor recreation and to get my steps in. I went into the hike with a plan of attack. I found the trailhead near the bunker we normally go to. Kind of in the campground area, but still accessible. If you're wiling to look for it. From there I took the stitch backs up to the bluff trail and followed it along the edge of the bluff. All the way to North Beach Park. All told it ended up being 3 miles. So, my falling on the day finally translated into something positive. A good outdoor experience.

I had no idea Port Townsend has a Goodwill, but I found it, and I went shopping. At first I wasn't seeing much. Just a lot of old crap. Like, elderly people die and their family dumps their estate onto Goodwill's donation team. I almost gave up, but instead went back to take a better look at the electronics. That's when I saw it: a Juiceman Jr. I've been wanting a juicer forever, but couldn't bring myself to pay that much for it. So this was so fortuitous! It's a "vintage" model. I couldn't find the manufacturing date and I didn't feel like trying to do anymore in-depth research. It works beautifully no matter how old it might be! I'm sure it was just shoved into a kitchen cabinet after being used once or twice. Of course I had to stop and get a bunch of fruit to test my new toy out with.

The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. I turned apples, carrots, kale, kiwi and strawberries into a delicious juice! It was fun too. The only real downside to juicing is that it creates a lot of wasteful pulp, so to counteract that I premade 3 smoothies (using a cup of pulp in each one along with frozen fruit and water), then I made a dozen muffins that turned out way better than I had anticipated. So no waste, and I'm getting back into my smoothies, plus juicing! I'm just gonna need to find the hookup for organic fruits and veggies. It wasn't cheap buying organic produce from Safeway.

I've got to go to bed. My eyes keep closing and I swear I'm writing sentences that make no sense. It's like I'm drunk from exhaustion. That's a thing right? Because I've got it. I have to go to bed now. Sorry if this doesn't make sense at any given point. I tried.
