Losing Track Of My Thoughs

I got slightly more sleep last night than I have been getting. about 7 hours, so I'm not quite as tired tonight as I have been. The past few nights I've had to cut my entries short (or omit details) because I was falling asleep mid-sentence and losing track of my thoughts. I'm still sleepy, but it's not 1am, so I think I'll get through this with slightly more success. Not that today provided much subject matter to elaborate on.

The big deal at work revolved around the rugs. If you've been reading for a while, you may remember me mentioning that people were peeing on our fitting room rugs. So often and in most of the rooms, so we removed the rugs and set them aside for cleaning. Well, they got cleaned. Only thing is, instead of laying them out to dry, they got rolled up and put back in the stockroom. They did what most wet things in Washington do... they mildewed. So, the flooring company came back and shampooed them again. It didn't work. Not only did the rugs still smell like mildew (and chemicals from the cleaners they used), but they were still super wet by the time we opened, and when I stepped on the rug and then the fitting room's wood floors, I'd slip periodically. It was all bad, but I don't get much say when it comes to standards and what stays and goes. Jess came back to cover my lunch and couldn't even make it the full 30 minutes before the smell got to her. She agreed to take the blame if we got in trouble for it, but the smelly rugs left the fitting rooms and I honestly don't care who doesn't agree with the decision. I have to work back there and honestly, it was affecting customer connectivity. I spent half the morning apologizing for the smell instead of meeting needs and expanding on sales. Not cool.

It's been incredibly easy getting through work lately. I was thinking about it yesterday, actually. I contribute most of it to the fact that I feel so good physically. Aside from my knee and my back occasionally acting up, I (in general) feel very comfortable in my body and am in the least amount of pain that I've been in in years. Snookums is going to finish filling out his medical insurance documents and once we're covered, I'll be able to look into getting my knee fixed. I'm a little sad that I might not be able to continue seeing Dr. Power (I think Snookums' insurance is through Group Health. I had Premera Blue Cross), but at this point I just need to take what I can get and hope for the best. In the mean time, I'm still going to work and I'm definitely still going to hike. I've just been icing as needed. It helps a little.

I can't even begin to tell you how stoked I am about having two days off. Even if work is good right now, being off is better. I plan on resting, either hiking or going to the gym, and spending time with the kids tomorrow. Monday I'll probably hike while the kids are at school. As long as it isn't raining. That's the tentative plan. Keenan is getting over a cold, so I don't know if hiking will happen tomorrow for sure, so probably the gym tomorrow, not hiking, and I'm okay with that.
