My Life Thus Far

Unscathed

Despite how early I woke up I'm feeling surprisingly okay. I don't anticipate staying up late tonight, but I'm not feeling so bad. Not too cranky, no headache. I'm good. Does this mean I'm finally growing up and accepting that not every day can start at noon? Progress is progress, I guess.

I set three alarms: 4:30am, 4:45am, and 5am with three 5 minute snooze intervals. I wasn't going to oversleep! And I didn't. I turned off the 4:30am, but I got up with the 4:45am one, and by the time the 5am alarm went off, I'd picked out my clothes and was brushing my teeth. Even I was impressed with myself! I left the house 5 minutes early, had time to stop for coffee, got to work 10 minutes early, and had a pretty decent day. My 11th Black Friday with Victoria's Secret in the bag and entirely uneventful.

Despite our large sales numbers, it really didn't feel like Black Friday's of the past. No crazy long lines, and most customers were very patient waiting for fitting rooms or assistance. Nobody yelled at anyone, either. I think fewer people are getting worked up about the Black Friday hoopla, or more people are shopping online. Either way, I'm most definitely not complaining. I don't know if we'll beat LY numbers, but I really don't care. I got through it unscathed.

Snookums took Kiki, Keenan and I for a little nature walk when I got off work. Then we strolled the little shops in Downtown Bainbridge Island and had pho for dinner. It was such a lovely evening! We did one of the short hikes I found in my new Urban Trails book. Port Madison Nature Preserve. It was less than half a mile round trip and ended with a lookout over (you guessed it) Port Madison. It was exactly what I needed after an over-stimulating day. It wasn't much of a hike to speak of, but there were some cute mushrooms, rustic covered picnic areas with very old looking fireplaces, and a quaint little bridge crossing a babbling brook. It was just a cute little place to walk. I'm glad I got to enjoy it. Since there was only an hour of daylight left by the time we got there, the fact that it was only half a mile long was actually a plus, not a drawback.

For the first time since I started tracking my food intake in S Health, I've exceeded my caloric intake for the day, and honestly I could eat more. I think getting up super early has had a lot to do with how much I want to eat today. I'm tired, and my body is trying to find energy somewhere. I'm not even mad at it. I know everything will balance out at week's end. I'm still averaging about 1.5 pounds lost per week even though S Health tells me I haven't had a calorie deficit sufficient enough to sustain that amount of weight loss. I must be burning more calories than S Health estimates. So, one day of overeating isn't too upsetting. And on that note, I'm going to go get me some of the pumpkin banana bread I made last night... and then I'm going to bed!
