All That Jazz

It's 8:30pm, but my body is convinced it's 2am. I'm so tired, but I made it, and it wasn't a bad day! The power of positivity and all that jazz.

I didn't get much sleep last night. I finally settled down a little after 2am, but I couldn't just fall asleep. I kept waking up every hour to check the time until eventually (at 5:30am) my alarm went off. I just got up, because at that point there wasn't enough time to get any real sleep anyway. Not only did I leave the house on time, I had time for coffee. I'm not sure if I would have made it without a stiff drink (no alcohol involved)!

The reason I had to go to work so early was two-fold. I needed to get the bra wardrobing center back in order (which is very hard to do when the store is open and customers keep interrupting) and I was asked to attend the SLM (sales leadership meeting). I'm not entirely sure if Christine invited me just to make me feel more included and important, or if I'm really supposed to be there as a member of the sales leadership team. I haven't been asked to attend in almost 2 years. Whatever the reason, it did make me feel more included. I don't know about important, but definitely included. I did my best to contribute and I paid close attention to what we need to focus on as a team so that I can help make the necessary changes on my end. I always do my best, but often there is a need to shift focus to another area and being included in the SLM will help me be a more proactive member of the team. Which is all I ever really wanted. Even if I didn't think so.

I also had to pull all of the area rugs out of the fitting rooms this morning, because they have inexplicably been getting peed on. Adults are peeing on our fitting room rugs. I have no idea who or why, but 3 out of 6 rooms have been hit. I finally convinced Christine that we should just take them out, and I actually like it! The rooms look so much cleaner and modern. It's a good change, and since the company doesn't seem to put much importance on keeping the rugs clean (they haven't been shampooed or steam cleaned once in the 18 months we've been in this new store), it's best that they not be in there. I can keep the bare wood floors clean a lot easier.

After working a 10 hour day (there was no one who could take my place in the fitting room so I could leave early, since I came in two hours earlier than I was originally scheduled) all I wanted to do was come home and take a nap, but that wasn't in the cards. It's Monday. Keenan has ballet. So, I made it home with just enough time to turn back around and take him to class. Normally I look forward to taking him to class. I love watching him dance, but today class couldn't end soon enough. I'm so glad to be home and in bed. And thankful for the leftovers in the fridge so I didn't have to cook dinner. I'm very ready for bed now.

Goodnight.
