My Life Thus Far
Letting Him Go
This will be brief, because I am mentally and emotionally drained. I just want to close my eyes and sleep forever.
Zephyr is in the hospital. He's losing kidney function, and having seizures. They've run test after test and can't seem to figure out what's going on. It seems like he's been poisoned, but since he's an indoor cat, we don't know what he got into. I just got a call from them, and it looks like his urethra is blocked as well. That could be the cause of all this. The downside is, if it's crystals in his bladder, there's not much they can do to prevent it from happening again, and the care for cats with this kind of issue is exceedingly expensive. Upwards of $3,000 a visit. The vet said she's seen some cats 3 or 4 times before they need surgical intervention to create a new urethra. We can't even afford food and flea meds with the way things are going right now.
I guess I better get my head around the idea of letting him go...
