More Time To Enjoy Life

I should already be asleep, since I have to be up at 4:30am (day one of Semi-Annual Sale), but we all know me going to bed at 9:30pm just isn't something I'm hard wired for. I've already accepted that tomorrow will probably suck. I'm going to be super tired. There's no way around it. I'll live. When it gets tough, I'll think back on how great today has been.

We managed to leave the house before 10am, 9:50am to be precise. That's major, considering most of our family outings done commence until afternoon. Leaving us little time to enjoy the day, and then stuff is closing, or the sun is going down. All day I kept thinking it was later than it was, because we got such a decent start. I wasn't upset about it. I'm going to try to keep it going. I want more time to enjoy life, and the beautiful place I live.

Salt Creek Recreation Area was a total bust. It was beautiful and sunny the entire drive up, until we got just outside of Port Angeles, maybe about 5 miles out of town. You could see the thick, ominous wall of fog up ahead. I was hoping it wouldn't be hugging the coastline like it looked like it was... but it was. The whole beach was totally socked in, and it was FREEZING. It got into the 90's around here, it was only 57 degrees up there. It would be an understatement to say I wasn't dressed for the weather. We aborted the mission and went back to Fort Worden. It may not have been a new adventure, but at least it was a safe bet we'd get to enjoy a fun beach day.

As expected, it was gorgeous at Fort Worden. Not in the 90's, but in the upper 70's, which felt much warmer when you were sitting on the warm sand, and low away from the ocean breeze. Keenan worked on a sandcastle, while I relaxed. Snookums played on his phone. I know I enjoyed myself, Keenan most certainly did, Snookums I'm not so sure. He cut his finger pretty good trying to use his pocket knife to open Keenan's new beach toys, so he was kind of in a bad mood about that. And he was irritated by all the driving we did for no reason. I tried to be optimistic about it. We got to go to Swain's and Country Aire. That's never a wasted trip for me. Neither of those stores exists anywhere other than Port Angeles.

I don't know exactly how long I was in the sun, but it's safe to say it was a good 3-4 hours. I'm not in too much pain, but there is some redness. I got some sun, but I'm not at all complaining about it. I like being tan, and the sunlight makes me happy. Keenan and Snookums slathered in sunblock, because they burn in the winter.

I've got all of my smoothies made for tomorrow, All I have to do is get dressed and pack my stuff in the morning... it's still going to be awful. Ugh. I'm already done with it, and it hasn't even started.
