My Life Thus Far

It's Just Paper

Finally, after 3 years of living in this house, we did something I've been thinking about since we moved in. We turned the empty front room into a quiet sitting room. There's no tv, or stereo. Just a coach, a little coffee table, a couple of plants, and the pictures and decorations that had already been in there. The room wasn't vacant, but it wasn't particularly useful, either. Just a big rug taking up some vacant floor space. It's cozy now. I'm sitting here having a cup of tea, with my candles lit, enjoying the quiet house (with the exception of my dad snoring).

I've got to find a way to get my nocturnalism in check. I'm staying up progressively later and later. It's after 3am right now, and while I do feel sleepy, it's tough shutting off. Especially when I'm feeling progressively like I can never get some time alone. If I'm not at work, I'm with someone. Never any time away from the family. I love them, but alone time restores me, and I'm not getting it. I could smoke more weed. That would help me fall asleep, but I'm running low on my oil (finally, I can't even remember when I bought it). I need to get more. I usually go by myself or with Snookums. Seems like I'm always with dad or the kids. Neither of which I want to take to the dispensary with me. My dad still harbors some antiquated views on it. Marijuana was brought up in conversation sometime last week and he mentioned never touching "the stuff". That's a clear indicator he things its bad, and while this is my house and I make no qualms about what I need for my health and well-being, I just don't feel like getting into it. Not yet.

So, after staying up past 3am last night, I slept until around 11am this morning. To my dad, that's half the day wasted, but I don't care. I make no apologies for being nocturnal. He knows it. After messing around on Facebook for entirely too long, I got up and took Snookums car into Discount Tire because he had a nail stuck in his tire. For the 5th or 6th time since we got the RAV. It's like it's curse. This particular nail happened to be 6in long! I didn't know nails even came that long! But they do. The technician showed it to me.

As soon as I was done there, I came home to meet up with the family and we took a road trip to Renton. IKEA had the best selection and prices on sofa beds, and dad needed a better sleeping arrangement. The kids don't like sleeping on the top bunk, he doesn't like taking their bed (putting them on the couch), and I don't want anyone sleeping on the floor. We found a great sofa bed for $249 that's HUGE, and it has a pretty burgundy slip cover. We also got a coffee table for the new sitting room and Snookums got a desk chair. His is starting to go. It is 6 years old, so a good run.

Over all it was a great day. I'm really pleased with all we got done in the house. It looks so nice! I'm glad we did it. Even if I am feeling slightly remorseful about the money we spent... oh well. It's just paper.
