My Life Thus Far

I'm At Peace

4 hours of sleep last night, and somehow here I am - awake at 2am, writing. It was a decent day with a bumpy start, but it's come to an end on a positive note. A long conversation with dad at the dining room table. I'm at peace.

Getting out of bed was so unbelievably hard this morning. I get some of my best sleep in the early hours of the morning, and I just didn't want to get going. I dragged myself out of bed at 8am, knowing damn well I had to be to work at 9am! Somehow I managed to pull myself together and get out the door by 8:35am, but I sacrificed making my smoothies to go to Starbucks for coffee. I got a smoothie and a couple juices as well to tide me over until dinnertime. Their smoothies are okay, but nothing close to what I make myself. I got the sweet greens with 2 bananas and matcha powder. It got me to my lunch fairly well (which wasn't until after 2pm). I just had juice for lunch. Super greens and more sweet greens. I definitely won't keep doing that though. Coffee, a smoothie and the two bottles of juice cost me $25. Not a daily thing. Nope. Too frivolous.

My performance at work today was pretty great considering my rushed start. When I left I'd sold over $3,500 (over $500/hr). One of my best days in awhile. I'm really pleased with how well my month is going. No bad days. Of course if for some reason the tide shifts and I do have a bad day, I've got a pretty solid cushion. I don't think I'll be stressing about missing my month. I'm more than on track.

When I got off work, I was surprised to find a bouquet of flowers in Fiona waiting for me. Sweet Snookums. He saw a post I made on Facebook chronicling my rough morning, and wanted to brighten my day. It was a lovely gesture. They were a hand-made bouquet from Central Market. My favorite. They have the best quality when it comes to fresh flowers (and pretty much everything else).

I made a seriously kick-ass stir fry for dinner tonight. Everyone liked it. I put in all the veggies (and some fruits if you want to be technical)! Tofu, mushrooms, onion, scallions, baby corn, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, carrots, Napa cabbage, red onion, broccoli, and mung bean sprouts. I think that was it... It was on point. I was even a little impressed with myself! Dad bought a rice cooker and had to use it to make rice. I appreciate his efforts. He was so excited about it. He's definitely a sweet guy.

After dinner, Snookums and the kids headed off to bed, and dad and I were left to our won devices. We just sat and talked. I'm loving this time with him. I'm not going to lie and say every moment is sunshine and roses, but overwhelming so, it's been a great experience. I know he doesn't want to stay with us forever, but I'm loving the time we have. Whatever the future may home, I will cherish this time.
