Unintended Nap.

Woke up two hours ago from simply falling asleep after the grandchildren called me again when they had gotten back from church. I was really surprised to see that I has slept for three whole hours. I couldn't get a totally relaxed sleep because I'd fallen asleep with all the windows open. Didn't feel entirely safe napping like that. I've napped regularly during the daylight hours with door and windows wide open but don't like doing it in the evening as it was pitch black dark when I woke. Scary. Won't do that again.

The little grandchildren called me today several times. Before they went off to church and after. It started with a blank text message from the granddaughter, then a call straight after I got the text. First it was the grandson! I love hearing his chirpy little voice telling tales on his sister. Then granddaughter grabbed the phone off him and she sounded a whole lot better. Her voice was chirpy too. I text her back after they finished talking and told her there was no message in her text. She called me back and said to me :

"Gramma this is a button phone, it has no keyboard and I don't know how to get it to work. And Gramma I can't spell."

I replied :

"Mummy will have to teach you how to use the phone to text with. And yes you can spell darling, you're ten."

I then tried to explain that to make words you press the button with the correct letters on up to three times depending on which letter you need to spell a word. For instance, if you want the letter 'a' you press the button once or 'b' press the same button twice and so on...well...after that call I get a text from the granddaughter with the letter 'A' - yes just the letter 'A' ---so...we are making slow progress. *sigh*. She's ten for heaven's sakes how hard can learning to text Gramma be? Oh yes! We can, at the age of ten create our own YouTube channel and figure out complicated graphics and navigate through software programs designed for childrens' art and play online interactive group combat games where you hold text conversations to help your online friends out of danger. (?) BUT WAIT! Texting Gramma on a button phone is apparently akin to rocket science or at the least as boring as maths homework!

I got my just desserts. I told Miss Ten -years-of-age that I will be texting up a storm to compensate for lack of texts from her end. Yes the grandson has racked up eighteen calls plus three from granddaughter in TWO DAYS. I doubt that they have much call credit left! We must learn to text more. Hmm...yet to be seen. Texts it is from Gramma.

Love the little darlings.
