My Life Thus Far

I'd Venture To Bet

Work was a blip on the radar today. My shift got cut in half, so I got to spend the majority of the day doing what I wanted, instead of what I have to. I know, how childish of me. Not wanting to work, because I'd rather do what I want. Me and every adult in the working world I'd venture to bet.

I was out of mangos and bananas, so I went to Costco. Whenever I walk into Costco, I feel like an American. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true. Costco is the epitome of middle class existence. Suburban sprawl. It's a not-so-exclusive club. I bought my mangos and bananas, Pyrex snap lock food containers, and a few other things. $122 later. I never know how I manage to spend so much there.

At Trader Joe's I bought the fruits and vegetables I don't need in bulk. I thought I'd shop at Trader Joe's way more now that Snookums works there, but I don't, really. I actually go less. I don't have any desire to chit chat with any of the workers, and now that they know I'm "Jason's wife", that's all anyone wants to do. Central Market is still one of my favorite places, but there's no doubt it's more expensive than it needs to be on a lot of things.

This evening, I took the little ones to Battle Point to play. It was right at sunset, so we only had about an hour of daylight left. There's something about twilight that's just so relaxing to me. There was an intoxicating smell in the air. I don't really know what it was. Probably a multitude of scents. There was fresh mulch, evergreen pines, water, fresh cut grass, all mingling on the breeze. It was glorious. I love that time between day and night. Because I was running out of light, and the kids were at the playground, I did a quick walk/jog lap around the park, then went to the playground to hang out with them. We all swung together. I can't remember the last time I was on a swing. It was fun! It was more fun seeing how excited being at the playground after dark made them. Like it was something illicit. They're so sweet. I have such great kids.

I had a lovely conversation with Corey tonight. It's been a while since we talked, but it's always like we've never let any time pass. I often wish he lived closer, but then again maybe it's better than he's half way across the country...

I'm off tomorrow, and have no plans. I was thinking about going on a hike or something, but Snookums is off and wants to do something together. I don't know what, since he has school in the evening. We shall see.
