He Said I Did Good

Today is Snookums (and my dad's) birthday! He's 39, which seems completely impossible to me (if he's getting older, that means I am too)! I don't know what's going on, I asked him a dozen times "what's wrong?", but he just keeps telling me "nothing", or that he's tired. He got to sleep in this morning, so I'm really not believing that's what's wrong. He's not the best at communicating his feelings, but maybe I'm just reading more into it then there is. Maybe's he's a little bummed about getting older. Or maybe he really is just tired. Who knows.

Snookums ruined my surprise. This morning when I asked him what he wanted to do today, almost the first thing out of his mouth was "get a new watch". What the hell? he hasn't mentioned wanting a new watch in months. I didn't think it was even on his radar at the moment. And yet, the first request he makes is that he wants to go buy a watch. I couldn't let him do that when I've got a handmade, custom engraved watch hiding out for him. I tried to gently persuade him to not get a watch, but he was persistent. I finally got frustrated and just said "NO, you don't need to buy a watch!" He instantly looked at me like he knew exactly what was going on. It never fails, he ALWAYS ruins surprises like this! So, long story short, he got his new watch. He knows it's his anniversary gift, but he loves it and is so excited to show his coworkers tomorrow. He loved the inscription, he loved the two tone colors of the wood, and the dial. He said I did good (he said he loved all his gifts, but especially the watch). And that makes me happy.

After opening presents, we all got dressed and headed into Silverdale. Snookums took his new watch into Watchmaster's to get a couple links taken out (it was a little too big on purpose). We got the kids' picture taken with Santa. To mail to the grandparents. They didn't want to, but I told them it's the least they can do considering how much their grandparents spoil them. I meant to get cards while we were in Target, but I totally forgot. I'll get them tomorrow so I can get the cards in the mail on Monday.

I'm going to attempt to seduce my husband and see if that helps boost his mood any. If he turns down birthday sex, then my suspicions will be confirmed: he's getting sick.
