Computer screen blank---Panic!
December 1st – Tuesday

Computer goes kerplop, just get a blank screen---I’m apoplectic! On the very first day of the month when all my bills are scheduled to fall due, I’m without the means to transfer funds electronically! Superchitt!
I’m kind of frantic to find a solution to this totally unexpected development, so I pack it up and head to Best Buy at the Mall, which I discover, doesn’t open until 10 on Mondays. I wait until opening, and then take it to their Geek Squad desk, probably knowing in the back of my mind that I couldn’t and wouldn’t trust my Macintosh to these Geeks who seem to have little knowledge and/or ability and have such a bad track record and when it comes to Mac’s. I discovered this in California when my old Mac Book was afflicted! Fortunately the Apple Store was only 17 miles away in Temecula, where I ended up buying a new 13in. MacBook Pro!
At the intake counter, I encountered a disinterested, officious, pomaded little twerp with an attitude, which only served to underscore the financial problems Best Buy was experiencing for the second time this year. He seemed to be bent on antagonizing the entire patronage waiting in line, insisting on the need to schedule appointments, when most of us had only a few quick questions we needed answered! His emphasis was money and $300; the price quoted me for just diagnosing the problem. He skipped around the lines of people in order not to miss an opportunity to aggravate anyone in the line. While he was jumping around doing his thing, I collected my things and left!
I was now in a dilemma and returned to the domo to check the Yellow Pages for independent’s doing Mac repairs and by pure called a guy in Grand Haven, who referred me to a David (not Dave) Butler, who bills himself as “The Mac Guy”, who is “99.8% Technobobble Free”! I called David and found that he doesn’t maintain an office and travels around to service his customers, He couldn’t get to me until noon tomorrow, so I had to be content with that! So I wait!
I dug out my iPad to see what if anything I could do with that. IPads, a device that generally require a Wi-Fi connection, I went out to my favorite source, the Marina Tap, where I discovered that I could access my CU Rockies account and move some money, so at least one crisis was averted. Took me a long time to work my way through the touch n’ tap process, but I got it done!
