A Sparkly Little Black Strapless Number

I had a fantastic day, start to finish.

I didn't set an alarm last night. I needed to sleep. Not just the usual 5 or 6 hours, but long and deep. Until my body decided it was time to wake up. Which happened a little after 10am this morning. I woke up feeling peaceful, happy, and well-rested. Annie was already up and dressed (she's used to being up early), so I got dressed and we headed out.

It was a day of firsts for Annie. Even though she's 16, she's never been shopping in Seattle, she's never been in a cab, she's never eaten at a more upscale restaurant. We did all of those things today. I try not to put my kids in situations they don't need to be in. Or doing things I know they wouldn't enjoy, and traipsing around the city going from store to store is one of those things small children aren't really into. Annie is just starting to show interest in fashion, and her style is developing. Not to the extent mine has. I love makeup, fashion, trends. All vegan, of course. I enjoyed sharing that aspect of my interests with her, and finding that we are even more alike than we initially thought! I'm excited to find something else we can do with one another. It won't replace hiking, but she was much more willing to walk around the city than aimlessly in the woods (that's my thing).

We went to Macy's because they have a large selection of formal dresses. It wasn't as extensive as it was when I went with Selena, but Annie was able to find a sparkly little black strapless number that she liked. We went to Forever 21 for accessories and shoes. It really didn't take us too long to find what she wanted. Then, we spent the rest of the afternoon browsing through other stores: Zara, Soma, Victoria's Secret (not my store), Nordstrom, Lush, and others. Westlake Center and Pacific Place are right next to each other, so we had no shortage of options.

I'm officially in love with LUSH. I've heard good things, but I'd never actually been in before. I feel in love with the R&B hair moisturizer and had to get a small jar of it to try out. I got Snookums some lemon shower jelly, and a little jar of shaving cream. I love everything though. It's just SO expensive. Everything is cruelty free and almost everything is vegan (with the exception of a few things that contain honey or lanolin and are just vegetarian). I want all of the soaps and perfumes, lotions, scrubs. It all smells delicious, ugh. I don't wish I was rich, but sometimes I wish I had a little more frivolous spending money!

We had dinner a Lecosho (the restaurant Selena took me to). We wanted to have Mexican at El Borracho, but they have a stupid "no one under 21 allowed after 6pm" rule. Absolutely absurd. There's a strong possibility I won't be going back, no matter what time it is, just because I felt unwanted there simply because of Annie's age. How uncouth. And they had good reviews on Happy Cow, too. Good veg options don't outweigh good customer service. Dinner at Lecosho was great. Even thought they have a meat heavy menu, the chef is willing to throw together a custom meal. Annie had an interesting carrot pasta. I had sautéed Brussels sprouts, corn, artichoke hearts, shitake mushrooms, and fennel fronds. So good!

Snookums and I got to spend some time together this evening. I can't lie, we may not have sex very often, but when we do it's getting better and better. Part of it may be because we're healthier than we've been in a very long time. Or because we don't get it very often. Tonight was lovely. Afterwards, we had ice cream. It was nice. Tomorrow I have the day off, and Snookums only has to spend a few hours at his extern. It'll be great spending more than a couple hours together. Even if we do need to do laundry.
