My Life Thus Far
Exactly $200
I woke up feeling much better than yesterday. Still not 100%, but so much better. Snookums woke me up around 7:30am, and I really wanted to sleep a little longer, but we needed to get going. I took another Claritin and an Advil allergy/congestion to help me get through the day. I'm still not sure if it's allergy-related, or a cold, but there's definitely some improvement. Now I've lost my voice, but I'm feeling better overall, so that's good. I think losing my voice had more to do with all of the loud talking I was doing today.
It cost us exactly $200 for ride bands for all of us. That didn't include admission, either. $200... I can't help but feel like that's just highway robbery. It was the most cost effective option, unfortunately. 120 tickets cost $50 and each ride takes an average of 9-12 tickets. So, any way you look at it, $40 for the bands was a better deal. Sadly. I knew it was going to be expensive, so I planned for that, but Snookums definitely had some sticker shock. Within an hour we surpassed the number of rides we would have been able to go on had we only bought tickets, and we spent just about 7 hours at the fair, so we got our money's worth!
I actually was kind of surprised by the options I had available to me at the fair (as far as food goes). I ate waffle cut sweet potato fries, a BBQed ear of corn, Dole whip, and of course regular fries. There were salad options, veggie burgers (but no gluten free buns), and various Asian options. Pretty impressive, actually. I was happy with my junk food. I'm having a smoothie now to make up for the crap I've eaten today (spinach, swiss chard, kale, banana, nectarine, blueberry, pineapple mango, with coconut water and chia seeds). I don't like buying salads. I can make way better ones for half the price at home.
The kids had such a great time! The last time we went to the big fair in Puyallup, Keenan was still in a stroller, and couldn't go on any of the rides. Today, he went on at least 10 different rides. He's still a very cautious boy, and didn't want to go on several of the rides that were well within his age range. He gets that from me. I don't like most of the scary rides. So, we went on the little ones together. Snookums and the girls are VERY adventurous, and went on pretty much everything. Which was fine with me, since I paid so dang much for those bracelets!
I haven't tried to talk since we got home a couple hours ago, and I won't until tomorrow when I wake up. I really hope my voice is back, so I can have a normal day at work. Fingers crossed...
