My Life Thus Far

Lecosho

Must write before I'm too tired to... Ugh, after working all day, going to Seattle for dinner with Selena did NOT sound like the best time. I was already tired. But, I sucked it up and did it, because all of the social experiences I've forced myself to engage in have never been as bad as I've anticipated. I usually have a good time. Tonight was no different. I had a great time, and I made a new friend!

Work was work. Nothing new there. I had an amazing day sales-wise. I did over $3,500. Very impressive, even for me. I can't help but think it's due to the Stennis pulling into port. And it was military pay day. Double whammy. I left feeling pretty great, and I've also got the next two days off, so YAY!

I met Selena and a friend of her's at the Bremerton ferry terminal. His name was Nate, and I wasn't expecting him to be that much fun. He was basically just coming along to chaperone and "protect" us in Seattle. But, he ended up being a really cool guy, and we had a great time hanging out, having dinner, and then going for drinks.

We had dinner at a little restaurant in Seattle called Lecosho. I couldn't put my finger on what genre of food they specialized in, but it was pretty game heavy and focused on local produce. They did have a very accommodating vegan offer, too. Any of their braised vegetables could be veganized, as well as a few salads. I'm not much of a salad girl, so I had the vegan trio of fingerling potatoes, rainbow cauliflower, broccoli romanesco, and braised greens. It was so flavorful, you'd be hard pressed to believe there wasn't any meat involved.

We came back over to the Kitsap side a little after 11pm, and made our way over to The Drift Inn, a little dive bar across from the ferry terminal. I've driven past that place a million times, but have never gone in. It was kind of fun, slumming. It's so grungy and rundown, but we had fun playing pool and darts, I had a couple very weak tequila sunrises. I even threw a bullseye!

I'm not looking forward to getting up in a few hours to see the kids off to school, but I did this to myself! It was fun, though. It almost makes me wish I took more of an effort when it comes to having a social life. I just don't feel like it most of the time.
