My Life Thus Far

A Hedonist By Nature

The power went out again last night, and again tonight (but it came back on around 11:20pm). If it goes off again this week, I might just lose it! Normally power outages don't get to me. They're few and far between, don't usually last too long, and I'm okay with being without technological comforts for various lengths of time. It's just irritating when it always seems to happen when I want a shower, or I'm hungry and want to cook a real meal. I live in modern society. If we can put a person on the moon, we should be able to keep the electricity on even in rural areas. It's just been a little windy. Not even as windy as it is in the winter months. I don't get it... but I'm done complaining about it (until it goes out again, then I'll start right back up with the bitching).

The power was on when I woke up this morning (thankfully). I've come to the conclusion that my phone and Facebook are the reasons I take longer to get dressed in the morning. Today I procrastinated and ended up running "just" on time. When the power's out, I don't have wifi, therefore my phone is much less appealing. Nothing will load, we have terrible service out here. I need to stop finding reasons to run late. That's basically what's going on. It's hard motivating myself to be on time, when I'm such a hedonist by nature, and there is simply no pleasure in going to work. Until I get there and have some kind meaningful interaction with another human. Those are the moments that keep me going back.

I found a new pair of booties for Fall! I went into Famous Footwear, not entirely sure I'd be able to find a pair of vegan booties, but I need to replace last year's because the past couple times I've worn them they hurt my feet. I tried on a pair of Dr. Scholl's that felt like I was walking on pillows (and they're cute, too). I was fully expecting them to be leather, but to my surprise they're made of all man made materials. I did a little happy dance! AND they were on sale, $59.99 from $89.99. I'd say that's a win. I also went to Sephora and exchanged out a lipstick I bought a few weeks ago. I got the Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick in Damned, but it's just too dark for me. So, I exchanged it for Exorcist, which is a much lighter (but still dark) shade of pinkish-berry. I'm excited to wear it tomorrow!

Yet another vegan bonus: my fingernails are SO long! I'm actually having a tough time typing this because they're so long. My hair and skin are looking pretty great, too. I can't believe there are people who think veganism isn't healthy. Bullshit, I've never looked or felt better!
