My Life Thus Far
The Power of Visions and Dreams
Today really couldn't have gone any better. It's like the universe aligned just right to make our day wonderful. No stress or strife. Just easy-going fun and happiness. So often in my life, I've felt like anything bad that could happen always does happen. I spend a lot of time wondering "why me". For once, I just had a good day with no strings attached.
We got on our ferry this morning with no issue. No crazy mad-dash for the terminal, we had plenty of time. We even had time to stop for coffee. We found the restaurant easily enough (it's in the Greenwood neighborhood, somewhere I haven't been before), and didn't even have to pay for parking, which is always a win in Seattle! Kimmie was running a little late, but Snookums and I just ordered appetizers and waited.
Razzi's has a completely dedicated gluten free/vegan menu. I didn't have to pick and choose, or modify at all. I had two pages of food options from pizzas, to calzones, salads, soups, pasta dishes. Desserts, too. Heaven, I tell you. Why can't there be better options on this side of the water? I would patronize all of the vegan restaurants that decided to open in Kitsap, for sure.
Once Kimmie finally arrived, it was literally like seeing an old friend again. Neither of us felt shy or nervous. We hugged, sat down, and just started chatting away. It was wonderful. Even though I'm painfully introverted, it wasn't hard talking with her. She's a lovely person. Which I already knew from messaging with her, and talking with her in group, but it's wonderful knowing she's just as genuine as she portrays herself to be online.
After lunch she took me to a little Tibetan boutique down the street. It was a tiny store, but had a pretty impressive collection of tapestries, prayer flags, mala, rugs, and jewelry. I got a pretty bracelet and some more stickers for Fiona. A set of two peace doves. I'm excited to add them to my collection.
Kimmie has some back issues (similar to mine, but more advanced), so she couldn't be on her feet too long. We parted ways after the Tibetan store, but I promised to come back and see her again. And I wasn't just saying that. I mean it. I would love to hang out with her again.
Snookums and I spent the rest of the afternoon at Pike Place Market. The past few times I've been to Seattle (for other reasons), it was too late for me to go to the market (it closes at 6pm). We mostly just ambled around looking at the various wares. We drank some apple cider, and visited the different shops. Snookums found a really cool recycled hemp hat at Conscious Clothing. It was completely out of his character to like something like this (it was multicolored patchwork with a wide brim), but I encouraged him to get it, because I loved the fact that he was branching out of his comfort zone. Rarely is he willing to try something new, or potentially stand out for being "different". So, we bought it for him, and he walked all around Seattle with it on! I ended up buying 4 packs of incense from the best little new age store tucked into the corner of the market. I can't believe I never knew it was there before! The incenses are blends I've never had before, and I'm so excited to try them. I got Tibetan Musk, Ebony Opium, Buddhist Temple Incense, and Patchouli Musk. Each one is supposed to activate different centers of the mind. I just burned one of the Ebony Opium's, because it's supposed to harness the power of visions and dreams. If not, it smells lovely.
Tomorrow (last day of our time off... sad) we're going the opposite direction towards the coast. Cape Flattery. I'm really excited about this, because it's something I've wanted to see pretty much since I took up hiking. It's a long drive, but a short hike. We're going to stop in Port Angeles on the way there and back for breakfast and dinner. It's going to be wonderful!
