My Life Thus Far

10 Years Later

Literally a few hours after I got off the plane Thursday night, I could feel my allergies starting to flare up, now they are to critical levels. My face is so itchy/stuffy/puffy, my sinuses are simultaneously drippy, and stopped up. I'm miserable. I may actually cave and take some allergy meds. I would love to know why after living in this state for over 17 years, I've only experienced significant allergy symptoms the past couple years. It's a mystery.

Today was Kiki's 10th birthday. I'm having a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around that. It seems like she was just born. I remember that day so vividly. From the first twinges of labor, to the moment I met her (which wasn't for several hours after her birth). The week we spent in the NICU is very fresh in my mind. Every little thing about that day. And yet, here we are today, 10 years later, and she's almost as tall as me. Smart, funny, sweet, such a wonderful girl. We kept the festivities low key. She got lots of presents, and got to pick where we went for dinner (she chose Red Robin). Otherwise it was a laid back, quiet day. Kiki's personality in a nutshell.

I got some much needed rest while Kiki and Keenan played with all of Kiki's new treasures. I've been feeling a little worn out with some lingering jet lag, allergies, and the stress of my missing bag and all. I plan on getting another good night's sleep before returning to work tomorrow. I'm not crazy-thrilled about going back to work (who would be?), but I'm not dreading it, either. I'm refusing to let myself stress out over non-issues.
