My Life Thus Far
Last Day in Paradise
I didn't think I'd be sad to leave, but I am a little... today was my last day in Hawaii. My last full day, anyway. I fly out 1:10pm tomorrow. I'm super, over the moon, excited to go home and see my babies and my Snookums! I wasn't expecting to be sad about leaving Hawaii, but only because I wasn't thrilled about coming in the first place. Breaking out of my comfort zone was brutal. My first day here was so unnerving, but as this week has progressed, I've gotten to see some beautiful things. I've gotten to spend lots of time with Gen (something I've been needing since the day she left Washington). I've had time to focus on myself, what I want, what I need, and how I want to move forward from here. There are definitely some changes that need to be made to my day to day life. It took traveling 2,700 miles from home to see that, but lesson learned.
My last day in paradise was not uneventful. I packed a lot into it. Early this morning, Gen took me to the swap meet at Aloha Stadium. I remember going as a kid, but it's different now. I managed to get Snookums and the kids some great souvenirs. One stop shopping! I also found some local jewelry (apparently I love interesting, handmade jewelry, I've bought a ton of it during this trip) and dresses. Everywhere I go, I find a new dress. It's a sickness.
After the swap meet, we went to Target for old time's sake. We walked around the store with our coffee in hand and just browsed (like the good old days). I can't wait until Gen comes home, so we can have our regular Target/Starbucks dates. Sometimes just having someone there for you, that gets you, is all the shelter from the storm you need. Gen is that for me. I hope someday I can be there for her in the same way. Not having her around could be a huge factor in my abandonment issues. Not her fault, but damn do I miss having a friend there.
Soon after getting back from the swap meet and Target, I left with another friend for the afternoon/evening. She took me to the tide pools in Ko'Olina. The area is lovely, the grounds are immaculate. The area is where the big resorts are located. Aulani, The Marriot Beach Resort, etc. So it was fancy. We had dinner at the local Mexican joint, then did some shopping. It was great fun. Of course I just found more stuff for myself. I'm terrible! I don't plan on spending anymore money. I have enough stuff, and I don't need to be racking up my credit card anymore than I already have.
After all of the swimming I did today, I'm just beat. But I am everynight. It's funny how I don't struggle to sleep when I'm going, going, busy, busy here each day. I'm not complaining. It made for a fantastic vacation. I've got the bug now! I want to go on vacation all the time!
