My Life Thus Far

Today Was the Day I Wanted to Have

Of course my laptop would choose to perform a lengthy update right when I decided to write. I'm already ready to fall asleep from the busy day I had, I'm not sure I have too much time left in me!

Today was the day I wanted to have in Hawaii. This morning Gen and I got up fairly early to hike Diamond Head. It was one of the things on my list that I just wasn't willing to compromise on. I knew it was going to be an uphill hike, but I hadn't anticipated the very long, dark, claustrophobic tunnel, or the sheer number of tourists. Bus loads of Japanese tourists. Some of them definitely not dressed for hiking. I took some great pictures, so my friends on Facebook can get off my butt about posting stuff. There. I did it.

After our hike (which only took about an hour), we stopped at Starbucks for coffee then came home for a bit. We ended up going to the Pearl Ridge farmer's market where I was able to find Snookie some really delicious natural cinnamon raison bread, and a little loaf of Lilikoi pound cake. I hope he likes them. I still have lots of shopping I want to do for him and the kids, but the opportunity just hasn't presented itself yet. I will find a way, though!

Gen had a board meeting to go to today, so instead of sitting at home (even though it had already been a busy morning and afternoon), I opted for being dropped off at the beach. Sadly, I did managed to end up with the teensiest sunburn. My arms, knees, shoulders, and back are blazing! I wasn't expecting a few hours to accomplish all that, but I have been fairly pale for many years now. I do like the way I look tan, but not enough to resort to tanning beds. No thank you. I trust the sun way more than man-made chemicals or light bulbs.

Oh man, my eyes are drifting hard! I better hurry up and finish. So I can get some good sleep. I'm so very much exhausted from all the fun I had today!

This evening, we went to the Honolulu Night Market. It was kind of like a night club that had spilled out onto the street. Not really me or Gen's vibe, but it was still a fun experience. I'm glad we went. I got a 32 oz mason jar with a straw lid and reusable straw. It's pretty neat. I'm looking forward to having smoothies in it. That was the highlight of the night market. I really wanted to find a piece of jewelry to commemorate my trip, but everything was overpriced and not all that awesome. The atmosphere was nice. I'll give it that much.

I have got to get to bed. I'm so very, very sleepy. Goodnight.
