My Life Thus Far

One Way Streets

I mentioned that today was the day my friend in beauty school used me for her model. It was just the test run today. She's got this Egyptian queen/middle eastern royalty/exotic idea. Bold eye make up, gold jewelry, and my hair teased up into a faux hawk. It was such a fun time, even if I struggled getting there.

I took the ferry over, but left my car parked in the lot at the ferry terminal. I don't enjoy bringing cars into the city. The roads are too congested, and parking is crazy-expensive. I paid $11.50 to park all day on Bainbridge, but it's about that much per hour in the city. No thanks. So anyhow, I tried pulling up walking directions on Google maps, but for some reason the application kept failing. So, I tried MapQuest. It worked, but instead of giving me walking directions, it gave me driving directions. Seattle is riddled with one way streets. I ended up walking WAY out of my way to get there. All uphill. In the rain. I still made it on time, so it wasn't too terrible. Exercise is exercise!

When I got to the school, I was really surprised by how modern and beautiful it was. The lobby looks more like a salon than a school. There are rows of stations in an open concept room. It was an upbeat, social, fun place to be. I had lots to keep me entertained while Kelsey worked on my hair. As always, I dreaded going. Didn't want to do it. Definitely thought about backing out, but I didn't and I ended up having a good time! next week when I go back for the photo shoot, I'm taking Annie so she can get her hair cut. I think she'll enjoy the experience.

The walk back to the ferry was much easier. All down hill, and since I knew where I was going, I was able to take the path of least resistance. I felt a little self-conscious walking back to the ferry with my hair looking like it looked, but I passed the convention center right as the anime convention going on let out, so compared to the people dressed in crazy costumes, I looked pretty darn normal!

I'm so very tired. I'm thankful I don't have to be to work until 2:15pm tomorrow. I'm sleeping in, for sure.
