One eBay Seller's Experience

I will try to make a long story short. I was an EBay seller for 8 years. I sold mostly high end authentic luxury handbags. Gucci and Coach to be specific. I had 100% feedback. I sold a black leather authentic Gucci to this lady a few months ago. After having the bag for almost 45 days, this lady opened a case against me stating that it was not authentic. I called EBay to let them know that I would prove its authenticity. I submitted everything I had, meaning all pictures close up of every single angle of the bag to Caroldiva.com who is a very well known authentication site. I had to pay for this service. It came back as authentic, of course. I called EBay to submit my proof and they wanted nothing to do with it. I called several times to get a different answer from somebody. I begged them to investigate my case before deciding in either favor. The buyer then escalated the case and no more than two minutes later, it was decided in the buyer's favor. I was absolutely floored. They never wanted to take my proof into account. It was decided from the get go.

The buyer returned the bag damaged. I called EBay to let them know what happened and they told me that "they no longer cover damaged returns". I couldn't believe my ears! There is now a huge pen mark on my bag that will now have to be discounted heavily and one of the EBay supervisors said "this is the risk you take having an online business".

To add to my despair, the buyer left me negative feedback which again, EBay decided to do nothing about even though I could have provided proof that the bag was indeed authentic. So now, my 100% feedback is gone.

I no longer sell on EBay. That's my story. Please feel free to use it in your book to showcase how EBay will ALWAYS decide in the buyer's favor no matter how much proof you can provide. (Stacey Ferrall Bernier)
